What Inside Your Computer?? Simple Explanations About The Parts Inside A Computer

Hai friends, We know that understanding detaled working of a computer is little bit complex. Here iam going to explain the components inside a computer in a simple manner.. Ready??? OK, let’s start A computer is a system formed by assembling many components. The system unit, monitor, keyboard, mouse etc are the essential components of a computer. All the parts of a computer are built
by using electronic components. The electronic components and their internal connections with the system unit of a computer is discussed here. MOTHER BOARD The mother board is a circuit board to which all electronic components of a computer are connected. These includes both internal part of the system unit like processor, display card of the monitor, sound card, memory etc..and external parts like mouse, key board etc..The ports and slots which connects these components also exist in the mother board. The circuit in the mother board helps in the data transfer among the components. The important parts of a mother board are… a) Processor socket b) Memory slots c) Interface slots d) Ports PROCESSOR SOCKET The processor socket is used to fix the processor in to the mother board.Different types of mother boards are available today depends up on the number of pins in the processor. PROCESSOR The brain of a computer is it’s processor. The processor in a modern computer is an integrated circuit (IC) chip.A chip consists of millions of transistors and capacitors
which can process data obtained through input devices and transfer data to output devices. Processors from different companies are available today.. Eg; intel series, AMD….. A fan is often fixed on the processor to remove the heat generated during the working .This is called processor fan. ALU & CU ALU stands for arithmetic and logic unit whereas CU stands for control unit. These are two important parts of the processor..The function of ALU is to do processing and mathematical calculations of the infrmations obtained through input devices. The control unit sorts this informations and sends it to the different parts of the computer like manager of an office. The control unit organizes and coordinates various functions of a computer. The orderly and fast functioning of a computer indicates the efficiency of the control unit. INTERFACE CARDS OR ADD-ON CARDS Interface cards are the circuit boards which connects the equipment outside the system unit with the mother board. These are connected to the slots of the mother board in such a manner that the ports to which external equipment are to be connected can be seen externally. The TV tuner cards used to watch television programmes in a computer, the sound card used to hear and record sound, the network card is used to interconnect several computers are examples of add-on cards. INTERFACE SLOTS Interface slots helps to connect add-on cards to the mother board.. MEMORY SLOTS & MEMORY CARDS Informations for the functioning of a computer are temporarily stored in a chip caller RAM( Random Acess Memory).RAM is fixed in the memory slots of the mother board.Among the various types of RAM in use, DDR(Double Data Rate) RAM is most popular. There are many RAM socker in a mother board. PORTS A computer system becomes complete only when different parts are put together and they communicate properly. The connection of the parts within and outside the system unit is done by port connectors. The ports are connected directly to the mother board or through add-on cards. The internal communication in a mother board takes place through the tiny circuits printed on it. Let’s examine different types of ports a) IDE Port Integrated device electronics (IDE) Port is used to connect hard disc , CD Rom drive, CD writer etc in to a mother board. There are two ports in a mother board., primary and secondary.. b) FDD connector It is used to connect Floppy drive to the mother board. c) SERIAL Port They are used to connect mouse and modem. They are called com1 and com2.com stands for communication..Usually in a com port, there are 9 or 25 pins d) PARALLEL Port Printer and scanners are connected through this port. e) USB Port Universal Serial Bus port is a port available in modern computers .Many devices can be connected in series on the same USB. USB can transfer more data at high speed compared to other ports. Now all peripherals can be connected by USB. f) POWER Port The electrical supply for the working of computer can be provided through power port. Power port is located at the SMPS. SMPS Switched Mode Power Supply is used to provide electric current to different parts of a computer in required amount. A fan is also associated with SMPS to radiate heat generated.. Explaining the parts of a computer is very vast and it takes many to write..So iam concluding here.
